I am a British freelance journalist and editor currently based in London. My work appears in international newspapers and magazines including the Financial Times, The Guardian, The Economist and The Telegraph.

Until recently I was based in Shanghai, where I wrote news and features on China and wider Asia. I have gone in search of the endangered finless porpoise; written about urbanisation in Ulan Bator; gone skiing in North Korea and investigated China’s black market kidney trade. Celebrity interviews include Tilda Swinton, Jessica Chastain and Zhang Yimou.

After arriving in China in 2009 I became a staff writer at Time Out Shanghai. I hold a masters degree in Magazine Journalism from City University, London, and am originally from Colchester, Essex.
